Caroline Salthouse

MMO Appointee – Marine Environment

Caroline has a Masters in Environmental Resources.  Since 2003 she has provided the Secretariat for the North West Coastal Forum, a multi-sector partnership working together across boundaries to deliver economic, environmental and social benefits for coastal communities in North West England. As part of her role she provides the Secretariats for the Liverpool Bay Coastal Sub-group and the North West Beach Management and Bathing Water Network.  From 2000-2003 she was the Mersey Strategy Manager, Mersey Basin Campaign, where her role was to oversee delivery of the Mersey Estuary Management Plan.

She has extensive experience of coastal issues at both local and strategic levels and of coastal policy and planning work at regional, national and international levels; she has participated in several EU-funded projects and is currently helping to deliver the LIFE+ funded Celtic Seas Partnership project which is focusing on Good Environmental Status of the marine environment. She represents the Forum’s interests on a range of bodies from sub-regional to national, for example the North West and North Wales Coastal Group, the Irish Sea Conservation Zones project and is currently a Vice Chair of the national Coastal Partnerships Network and a Steering Group member of the international Irish Sea Maritime Forum.
