TSB Resolution for 2024 cockle fishery opening

At the Technical Science and Byelaw meeting on May 24th 2024, the Authority’s members have approved the below resolution:

‘To approve that the cockle beds in Morecambe Bay remain closed for the rest of the closed season, and that officers undertake further surveys in July, with the view to bringing a recommendation for a possible September 1st opening to the Authority by August TSB meeting.’

The trial July 1st opening will revert to 2025/26 season. Further information on reports and information discussed at the meeting can be found here.
