Richard Lomax
MMO Appointee – Recreational
Richard joined the NWIFCA committee in 2020. He trained as a biochemist and has worked in a number of scientific areas, including medical research and chemical risk assessment. From 2012 he was involved in the assessment and approval of antifouling paints and other biocides in the UK and EU. He is currently working as a land use planning advisor providing advice to local government planners and businesses for developments close to industrial major hazard chemical sites.
Richard lives in Waterloo on the Sefton Coast and is a lifelong sea angler (both from the shore and from charter boats). He has worked with local fishing clubs to maintain the access of recreational anglers to the Mersey via the Port of Liverpool. He has a keen interest in wildlife and is a founder member of the Bolton Conservation Volunteers. In his spare time he is a scout leader and a member of a group managing a woodland for the local community.
